General Description: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key contributor for the identification, targeting and capture of viable new business in accordance with the objectives stated in the company Strategic Plan working as part of a team. The BDM is responsible for forming business relationships with key customers, to solicit and deliver appropriate pre-proposal activities that lead to formal customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as well as leading the preparation and delivery of successful Actuation Systems (AS) Business Proposals. To be a key contributor to the identification, targeting, and capture of viable new business within military actuation (fixed wing, rotary, missiles, etc.) in accordance with the objectives stated in the company Strategic Plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Identify, prioritize, and quantify new business opportunities for the Strategic Plan.

• Focal point for promoting Actuation Systems (AS) to new and existing customers.

• Identify, establish, and keep appropriate relationships with current/future Customer organizations and management structures.

• Identify key end-user decision-makers and influencers (i.e., military branches)

• Input business opportunities to the Sales Opportunities Database.

• Solicit and deliver pre-proposal activities, such as Trade Studies, Requests for Technical Information (RFTIs), etc. to the Customer.

• Lead, mentor develop team members as a business is developed.

• Receipt and distribution of Request for Proposals (RFPs) within AS (Actuation Systems).

• Identify AS (Actuation Systems) Proposal Themes, Unique Selling Points, and Capture Strategies.

• Deliver AS (Actuation Systems) Proposals in accordance with RFP deadlines.

• Conduct and/or oversee post-proposal follow-up activities.

• Identify a path to secure the order by working proactively within a multi-disciplined team that meets Customer expectations and Proposal deadlines.

• Demonstrate an understanding and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI)/ Lean activities

• Work in a manner that adheres to all the companies' Ethical Standards.

• Communicate and make presentations to internal/external senior-level leadership.

• Travel domestically and internationally as required when circumstances permit.

• Perform other duties as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree( Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics ( STEM)
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with design, development, and manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Defense/Military experience in a technical or leadership capacity.

• Military experience ideally through service in one of the US armed forces.

• Existing Military market contacts with Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing Defense, Sikorsky, Bell Helicopters, DoD and Armed Force procurement.

• Good written and oral English language skills.

• Able to empathetically communicate Customer expectations.
