The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for monitoring all processes involved in the production of Fiber Optic Components and Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies. The inspector has to ensure that quality standards are met by every step of the process involved in Fiber Optic Cable Assembly Manufacturing.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform layout mechanical and assembly inspections from Production.
  • Monitor the development of all products during in-process inspections.
  • Document inspection and test results.
  • Perform Final Piece Part, Assembly and Raw Material Inspections
  • Create Certificates of Conformance
  • Review for accuracy all assembly documentation
  • Generate First Article Inspections
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:?

  • Demonstrated ability to use hand tools like calipers, micrometers, ring gages, plug gages and other standard measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read (write and speak in English) and interpret assembly drawings as well as internal and customer specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blue prints.
  • Possess strong process-based skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of technical and computer skills with the ability to navigate within the customer order data base.
  • Detail oriented and possesses unique skill of understanding quality assurance practices and processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of best practices in customer service.
  • Ability to work unpredictable hours to support production personnel - often on short notice.
  • Team player.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Two year college or university program, certification preferred.
  • One to two years’ related experience and/or training.
  • GD & T experience is a plus
  • ISO 9001 experience a plus but not required.
  • Zero Defect Planning experience
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience
  • 5 Why root cause analysis experience
